Graduation
My undergraduate graduation from Seoul National University
Graduation Remarks
Recently, I graduated from Seoul National University (SNU) with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). Looking back, the journey was far from simple and linear. Instead, it was filled with various challenges, uncertainty, and moments that tested my limits both academically and mentally.
However, these experiences ultimately shaped my growth and who I became as both an engineer and person. Through the sheering nights of coding, debugging, processing theoretical courses, and demanding project deadlines, I learned the importance of perseverance and discipline matter. In which, each of these obstacles have became an opportunity to refine my way of thinking whilst strengthening my intrapersonal skills as well as deepening my appreciation for the craft of computer science. There were times where I questioned my decisions and personal vision. In particular, this happened during my freshman year where I felt the intense pressure being an undergraduate student at South Korea’s best university. Moreover, throughout my last year where I dealt with personal problems that created a roadblock. However, I always persevered and got back up from all the difficulties and pain that I faced throughout my journey, both academically and personally, as I know that I can become a better version of myself and that a lot of people believed in me such as my family and close friends.
During my time as an undergraduate student at Seoul National University, I actively involved myself in coursework, projects, and discussions whenever possible. In cases of emergency, I decided to step up as a leader of the team and I valued the importance of collaboration and communication. I always believed that learning should not be passive and that curiosity combined with hard work creates the most optimal environment for growth. As a result of this dedication, I was honored to receive the CSE Young Courage Award, which recognizes students for their hard work, creativity, and active engagement in both academic and non-academic activities such as projects and events. This award represents more than recognition as it symbolizes the perseverance required to continue pushing forward even when the path is uncertain. Consequently, the graduation ceremony has made me realized of how my dedication and discipline throughout the years have brought a fruitful outcome that I never expected I could achieve in the first place. Therefore, this will not be the last time that you will hear from me as I know that I can do and achieve even better things in the future despite the trials and hardships, as I have proven from time to time that as long as dedication is filled with discipline, nothing can ever stop anyone to achieve what they wanted to be in life. With this message, I wanted to say thank you and veritas lux mea!
Personal Message
I wanted to highlight on the fact that one of this would have been possible without the support of many people who stood behind me throughout this journey.
First and foremost, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my parents. Their constant belief, support and sacrifices that they have given me throughout the whole journey has brought various opportunities and desire for me to be able to pursue my education and ambitions in one of the best universities globally. Without their presence and motivation, I would have not been where I am currently at right now in life.
Moreover, I wanted to similarly express my gratitude towards the professors at Seoul National University who have guided me through the academic challenges of the program. Their mentorship and dedication to teaching has helped in shaping my understanding in not just computer science but similarly on the aspect of life itself.
Most importantly, I wanted to acknowledge and thank myself for the hard work and dedication to always fought through and never giving up despite the hardships and hurdles. The path was not always easy and there were moments when continuing forward required resilience and self-belief. In the end, perseverance proved to be the most important factor. If there is one message I hope others can take from my journey, it is to believe in the power of hard work, persistence, and manifestation. Sometimes the path forward is uncertain, but consistent effort and conviction can lead to outcomes that once seemed distant into a reality that is hardly ever expected but more than so welcomed.
Future Vision
Although graduating marks the completion of one chapter, it is only the beginning of the next stage of my journey.
Currently, I am actively seeking internship and work opportunities where I can apply my knowledge and gain real-world experience. Transitioning from academia to industry is an important step, and I believe that practical experience will allow me to grow significantly as an engineer and researcher. Therefore, I am currently open to do internships or work on any companies within my country based proximities as long as it is within the same field of computer science or business-tech firms.
In the long term, I aspire to puruse my masters degree with the focus of AI and build my own startup that focuses on multimodal vision systems based technology which integrates visual understanding across different modalities to create systems capable of interacting with and interpreting the real world more effectively. I believe such technologies have the potential to enhance numerous domains, from intelligent systems to real-world applications that improve everyday life, which are apparent in notable industries such as vision based LLMs or robotics based precision farming systems.
At the moment, my focus remains on learning and gaining as much of industry experiences as possible whilst continuing to refine my skills. Every step forward, no matter how small, is part of the larger journey that can always helped me in my personal journey.
